Testing machine software

Universal Testing Machine Software

Complete control software for universal testing machines, from the first test method to the final report. It drives tensile and compression tests with closed-loop control, reads every load cell and extensometer, and turns raw curves into standards-ready results, on a laptop or a touchscreen on the machine.

How it works

  1. Set up the test method

Start from a pre-loaded standard or build your own method, then save it for every operator to reuse.

    • Tensile or compression test, in CRE, CRL or CSR mode
    • Sample details: cross-section shape, gauge length, width, thickness, and warp/weft or MD/CD direction
    • Pre-load with automatic force and displacement tare, and automatic gauge length correction
    • Stop conditions: until extension, until load, until load drop or at a sensitivity %, combined as needed
    • Hold at position or at load, and load or extension reduction for relaxation and recovery studies
    • Specialised tests: seam strength and slippage, ILD for flexible foam, and cyclic or fatigue tests
  2. Run the test

A clear test screen shows exactly what the machine is doing, specimen by specimen.

    • Live force, extension and time, with one-touch zeroing
    • Automatic move to the gauge length before each specimen
    • Live graph: force vs displacement, stress vs strain, force vs time or displacement vs time
    • Different dimensions for each specimen in the same batch
    • Start, stop and inching controls on screen
    • Status bar with connection, direction, encoder, stop condition, speed and load cell
  3. Analyse and report

Results are calculated the moment the test ends, and can be re-analysed later without re-testing.

    • Mean, median, standard deviation, coefficient of variation, max, min and range
    • Peak and valley detection with adjustable thresholds, for peel and tear tests
    • Margin sections, automatic or at set positions, for average force over a region
    • Young's modulus, automatic or over a set strain range
    • Yield point by zero slope or % offset method
    • Change units, pick specimens, zoom the graph, add comments, then export to Excel or print to PDF

How MavelTec UTM software connects to the machine: PID control of servo, stepper and induction motors, sensors, load cells and extensometers, and access from the machine touchscreen, laptops, tablets and PCs
The software is the brain of the machine: it drives the motors, reads every sensor and runs on a touchscreen or a laptop.

Questions

Can it run on the UTM we already have?

In most cases, yes. We fit our controller and software to existing tensile and compression testers, whatever the brand, then calibrate the machine and train your operators.

Can we create our own test methods?

Yes. Every parameter is configurable, so you can build methods for in-house or customer procedures alongside the pre-loaded standards.

Which extensometers does it support?

Single encoder, dual encoder (long travel), strain gauge and laser extensometers, as well as the motor encoder for crosshead displacement.

What is the difference between Full and Light?

Light covers routine tensile and compression testing with core standards at a lower cost. Full adds every control mode, extensometers, advanced tests and the complete parameter library. Light can be upgraded to Full later.

Already have this machine?

We can fit our electronics and software to your existing tester, so it works like a new IoT-enabled machine for a fraction of the cost of replacing it.
